This is a Crumpet Simples post! It's a week behind, but hey, life gets in the way sometimes, right?
I'm in love with holos (duh) and I wanted my first go at a "Saran Wrap" manicure to be rainbowy and sparkly so I chose two Dance Legend nailpolishes to get that flame on my fingertips. In New Zealand the main brand of cling film is "Glad Wrap" by the way. For the nail photos, my flash has freaked out and seems to only be working for half the image. I'm working on getting that fixed.
The pink I used for the base is Spectrum, a pink that is somewhere in between baby and rose with a linear holographic flame. (Side note: I've learned the rainbow effect is known as a flame in the nailpolish world. I'm still deciding whether I just want to continue calling it rainbow.) Here's a picture of 2 coats of the base. If you're careful you can do 1 coat.
The blue I sponged (?) on top of the dry Spectrum is High Voltage. Both of these colours come from the Wow Prism collection. Formula of this blue is the same as the pink - both super opaque, super strong holos! <3.
This technique maaayy have worked better with cremes, I think the strength of the holographic 'flame' overpowers the difference in the colours, and from a distance my nails just look a soft lilac colour now. Oh well, still pretty! Here's the after-effect. You can join the Crumpet Simples group on Facebook to post your designs and see others'.
