Christmas manicure 2012! My first venture into tape designs ended up being pretty disastrous. I didn't take a close-up of the Christmas tree because it was hideous. Gold base is OPI - Golden Rules. Index finger is Mode - Kiss and Tell (red) and Mode - Vicious Venom with a spot of Goldeneye on the top of the tree.
This manicure really annoyed me when I tried to photograph it. It's a little bit chipped too. Oops. The base is OPI - My Private Jet. Now OPI have re-released this polish with a new formula, meaning they have changed the holographic nature too. The version I have seems to be the original scattered holo which looks beautiful in the sun (although this photo doesn't say that...) The accent nail is OPI - Goldeneye which is probably my favourite gold ever. I'm a sucker for yellow golds.
Magnetic polishes! These are both CR polishes that I picked up for $4.50 at the $2 shop! Magnets still take a bit of practice for me, so it's a little shoddy, but these looked great in real life. I went and ruined the ringfinger accent with a coat of Jordana - Crystal Glitter. Ugh. But Crystal Glitter seems to look like China Glaze - Fairy Dust although I haven't seen that polish in real life. Gorgeous glitter holo!
My cute cloud manicure. Base is Mode - Hook Me Up and the clouds were just splodged on with a CR White polish. I really liked this :) I'll probably try to recreate it and make it a bit better in future.
"Just the tip". I guess this is a Skittles French manicure? Hmm. I got so many compliments for this one - if only I'd made a better job of it! There is a little bit of wonkiness and brush lines on the nails which annoyed me. Anyway! Pinky is Australis - Sky's the Limit. Ringfinger is Revlon - Posh. Middle finger is OPI - Need Sunglasses? Index finger is Australis - Jellybean. Thumb is Revlon - Revlon Red.
Ahhhh if only I could afford every Layla holo ever. This is about 4 coats of Layla - Mercury Twilight. This polish is pretty hard to apply. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. But it seems to be similar to OPI - Moonraker which strips the coat underneath it. Either way, once all the bald spots are covered this shit is beautiful.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL RED. There is something amazing about wearing a perfect, solid red manicure. This is 2 coats of OPI - Die Another Day.
Super chipped, but you get the idea of what I was going for. TAPE! And I got my dotting tools here too, so I tried them out on my pinky. They're harder to work than they look! Practice makes perfect. My coworker said they were Spiderman nails! The colours are perfect I guess. This is OPI - Die Another Day with CR Blue. The blue is horrible for staining your nails. Upsetting because it's such a beautiful blue! (I miss my long nails :( They're currently all broken and cut right down to start the growth again.)
Grey manicure seemed appropriate for the dreary winter weather we had a couple months ago. This is Mode - VIP with a couple of coats of LA Girl - Purge on top. I really liked this combination, but nobody else seemed too! Can't win 'em all.
My first water marbling attempt. It's also my only water marbling attempt. It is the most time consuming way to get polish on to your nails, which is disastrous for me because I like it to be fast and easy. Water marbling is neither. Not every polish will marble, which is incredibly frustrating. Getting the water the right temperature is also hard. Ugh.
This polish looks peach! But in reality it's a beautiful baby pink. It's Sally Hansen Salon Manicures - First Kiss. This polish is a little streaky, but after 3 coats it levels out and looks really great. It doesn't really complement my skin tone well, so I am selling it. I'm better suited to pink shimmers, and hotter pinks.
Hope you have enjoyed my photos! Now we are at present time, and I will do my best to photograph every manicure I wear, including shitty ones that don't work out nicely for me. x
