Belated Christmas nails post

I hope everyone reading this had a fabulous Christmas and spent it exactly how they planned to. I worked (in retail) all the way through Christmas, so I was wayyyy too knackered to manage many Christmas themed manis in December. The first I did took me three hours, then my sister demanded Christmas nails too, so I ended up spending four freakin' hours on nails. Outrageous. Ain't nobody got time for that. Click after the jump for photos!

This is the first mani I did. An assortment of Christmas images :) I didn't realise how messy my fingers still were when I took the photo! Woops..
For the reindeer I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen - White On for the base. Then I used Chi Chi - High Heeled Houswife for the reindeer head, Revlon - Dominate for the antlers, a generic black for dotted eyes, and OPI - Magazine Cover Mouse for the nose. :D My dad thought these were the cutest things ever to be put on nails.

The "candy cane" (almost...) had a base of OPI - Solitaire with striping tape separating sections for OPI - Magazine Cover Mouse. Repeated on my thumb.

The pressie had a base of Mode - Kiss and Tell. I used striping tape to outline the square shape of the box and filled it with OPI - Suzi Says Feng Shui. The ribbon was Sally Hansen - Purple Posy (again lined with striping tape), and the bow was Calvin Klein - Silver.

The Christmas tree on my index had a base of A England - Princess Sabra (which ended up being a bad choice as the olive tones were emphasised by the green, meaning the tree itself didn't stand out from the base as much as I hoped it would). Once that was dry I used striping tape to create the outline, and tinsel design of the tree. The tree was painted with Star Kin - Moss. The baubles are Star Kin - Delta Dawn, and I fished glitters out for a (invisible in this photo) star on top.

My sister's nails (top) and my nails. She requested lights which looked pretty cute, and wanted a white background for the tree - a great decision. On her thumbs she had given up on sitting still, so we did a quick tape chequer design.

These were my second go at Christmas nails. I hated them. Nothing went right. The base was 3 coats of Sally Hansen - White On because I kept smudging them. I wanted something different to white so I put on a coat of Del Sol - Day Dreamer which gave it a purple duochrome effect (none of which captured in this photo). Didn't change colour in the sun though, maybe mine's too old now.

The black line was done with an LA Colors black striper. The lights were dotted on in various cremes. The tree on my thumb was a tape job as mentioned before, with Star Kin - Moss. I also stuck on a gold rhinestone for the "star" and made the baubles black rhinestones. When I put my topcoat on I smudged the black, so I had streaks. That was the icing on the cake for this mani. I was angry. Dad still liked it though :).
