Glitter Gradient (My first nail art in aaaagggeeesss)

Hi all!
This was on my mind yesterday: must do a gradient of some sort.

I have moved back with mum and dad now, so my little sister is all up in my grill, and plans on "sharing" my clothes (I'm a size 14-16, she's a 6-8), make up and nailpolish. Hmm I'll see how that goes. So I let her choose my base colour, and she picked Essie - Raspberry.

Essie - Raspberry is a gorgeous red-pink crelly that applies like a dream, but also stains the s&%# out of any skin it touches! So be accurate with it! I tend to avoid Essie because their formulas have been watery (in my experience) and need 3-4 coats for opacity. Ain't nobody got time fo dat. But I kept Raspberry because it's a lovely pink that I haven't got a similar shade to, and it is opaque in 2 coats. In the picture below it looks like a hot pink, but in reality it is more red leaning.

Once I let that dry, I picked out two glitters by OPI: Teenage Dream (from the Katy Perry collection) and Goldeneye (from the Skyfall collection).

Teenage Dream is a clear base jam-packed with silver holographic, and pink microglitters. Unfortunately my bottle has gone a bit gloopy, so the gradient hasn't come out very nice, and it took a thick lot of topcoat to get it to dry! Gorgeous in the light though.

Goldeneye is hands-down my favourite gold. Ever. Nothing will ever top this gold foil. It's opaque in 3 coats, and this makes for a very striking mani, or even accent nail. Being a foil glitter it is relatively easy to remove as well as being good for glitter gradients. (Maybe paired with the Raspberry this is a bit Christmassy?) hmm.

Dad helped me get a non-yellow light by holding a torch above my nails. What a guy. :)
